Evaluation of Pteleopsis suberosa Smith and Nauclea latifolia Engl and Diels effects on cholesterolemic overload in rats

Nauclea latifolia (N. latifolia) and Pteleopsis suberosa (P. suberosa) are two medicinal plants used to treat several pathologies linked oxidative stress. This study aims the effects of ethanolic extracts from those on consequences cholesterolemic overload. Oxidative stress was induced by In vitro antioxidant activity evaluated using DPPH, total phenolic compounds flavonoids assays; while in vivo FRAP test determination malondihaldehyde (MDA) content liver kidney tissus were assayed. Lipid profile studied assaying triglycerides, cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol. Blood glucose, ALAT ASAT determined. P. showed higher level as compared N. latifolia. that significantly increased Fe2+ content. Organs MDA reduced at 200 mg/kg. Both LDL-cholesterol levels HDL-cholesterol significantly. Results also suggest that, may contribute prevention treatment hypercholesterolemia related diseases.
